Robot umpires take to the field for baseball’s spring training

America’s favorite pastime is back in full swing! Major League Baseball kicks off another thrilling season this week, and fans across the country are ready. Whether you’re cheering from your favorite ballpark or watching the action from home, the 2025 season is set to deliver excitement.
It all begins with a high-stakes matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees.
When is MLB Opening Day 2025?
The Dodgers and Cubs officially got things started with the Tokyo Series that took place on March 18 and 19, seeing L.A. sweep the two-game series. The rest of the league will open the season on Thursday, March 27. The Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Rays will wait until Friday for their season opener at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.
The 162-game regular season ends on Sept. 28 with the St. Louis Cardinals at the Chicago Cubs.
How to watch MLB Opening Day
The national audience will have two chances to enjoy Opening Day as ESPN will broadcast Brewers vs. Yankees at 2:05 p.m. CT. That will be followed by the defending World Series champion Dodgers welcoming the Tigers at 6:10 p.m. CT. MLB Network promises to have regional coverage of the Cubs-Diamondbacks and A’s-Mariners night games.
