Kam Williams commits to Kentucky Wildcats Basketball

Date:

The Kentucky Wildcats are on the board in the 2025 transfer portal cycle, this one coming from Tulane guard Kam Williams.

Williams broke the news Friday morning to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

“My dream is to play in the NBA,” Williams told ESPN. “Kentucky’s culture and background shows that they care about their players, especially developing them into the best players they can be.”

The 6-foot-8, 190-pound Williams was originally a class of 2024 recruit ranked 178th nationally by 247 Sports Composite. He primarily played the 3 spot as a true freshman at Tulane this season but also played some small-ball 4, so he’s someone who could give Kentucky depth at multiple spots.

The 19-year-old Williams finished his lone season at Tulane averaging 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. He shot 41.2% on 3-pointers on 4.6 attempts per game.

In his final game of the season in an AAC Tournament loss to top-seeded Memphis, Williams went for 17 points on 5/7 shooting (3/5 from deep), eight rebounds, two assists, one block, and two turnovers in 36 minutes. He reached double figures in five of his last eight games, including a 24-point effort in a win over UAB in which he hit 6/8 attempts from deep.

Williams was planning to test the NBA Draft waters but has opted not to. He joins high school recruits Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno, and Acaden Lewis as incoming players set to join the roster.
