Bronny James has spent most of his NBA rookie season playing in the G League, but the former USC Trojans guard recently got the call up to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The son of legendary NBA star LeBron James played in Denver on Friday night. Bronny James, who is averaging 1.6 points per game as a rookie, got 16 minutes of action in his team’s 131-126 loss to the Nuggets. His dad, LeBron James, remains out, as he’s recovering from a leg injury.
Bronny James has faced a lot of scrutiny since arriving in the NBA. Some have argued that the former USC Trojans guard did not deserve to be taken in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Others say he’s only playing in the league because of who is dad is.
Friday night, Bronny James dealt with a heckler in the stands in Denver. The Lakers rookie had a three-word clap back to the heckling fan.
Bronny James clapped back at the heckling fan with a three-word message: “Your chain fake.”
The fan appeared to respect the the callout, as he posted a selfie with his fake-looking chain later on during the game.
Bronny James ended up having a solid night on Friday evening. He played in 16 minutes – the most he’s ever played in an NBA game – and he scored five points while grabbing two rebounds and recording one steal.
The Lakers are expected to get LeBron James back soon, so it’s unclear how long Bronny James will be up on the NBA roster for.
Los Angeles returns to action on Monday night against the San Antonio Spurs.
