Victoria Azarenka has not been in the best of form lately. She was dumped out of the Australian Open in round one and since then, has failed to make it past the second round in Qatar, Dubai and Indian Wells. Anhelina Kalinina suffered the same fate as Azarenka, not reaching the third round in either of those three competitions.
These two met in Dubai with Azarenka coming out on top in a close three set affair, recovering from a bad start to win 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. Her experience and endurance was a key factor in victory and should serve her well again in this rematch. She may be 35-years-old, but she maintains a high level of performance the longer a match goes on, a testament to her fitness.
It would be no surprise if this one also went the distance, but expect Azarenka to start much stronger on this occasion. If that is indeed the case, then it will be hard for Kalinina to pull things back and Azarenka should pull through to triumph over again against the Ukrainian.
