Dangerous weekend of severe weather for Central US
AccuWeather’s Jon Porter warns of a triple threat facing the central U.S., which include fire danger in the South, blizzards in the North and damaging winds and tornadoes in the heart of the nation.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a wind advisory on Friday for several central Ohio counties.
Franklin, Delaware, Union, and Madison counties are under the wind advisory until 8 p.m. Saturday.
Residents in these areas can expect southerly winds between 25 and 30 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 45 miles per hour possible, according to NWS. Gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs. Power outages cannot be ruled out, NWS warned.
As of Friday afternoon, maximum wind gusts reached 29 miles per hour at around 3:35 p.m. at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, according to a live log maintained by the weather service.
